Rather very heavy rainfall over NW India

08 July 2010 / 0000 UTC Chart.
The inland low identified above 23 Deg North latitude draws winds from SEly to Easterly direction and moving towards another low notified near Gujarat. The 00Z upper air profile indicated that 850hPa level is relatively warmer [temperature:around 20.4 deg Celsius] near Ahemedabad. Thus when this system is moving towards west there are chances of rather very heavy rainfall on its way namely Rajasthan, Hariyana and Gujarat.
It may be noted that two distinct SWM wind pattern are prevailing now. The strong SWly winds are flowing over the Gujarat and the adjoining regions [i.e heading towards the NLM points in NW sector].
Whereas relatively westerly winds with lesser strength are blowing at lower latitude right from Goa to South Karnataka Coast where the 850 hPa temperature is constant at 18.2 Deg Celsius. Chennai perhaps [now] lies the southern most part of the low / trough and this leads to clouding and light rain.
