"Nisha" - No landfall yet


No landfall yet... still travelling slowly along & close to coast.
Slowly moving north-north-west.
It's expected to make landfall SOON.
Chennai is receiving intermittent Sharp heavy showers with gusts from morning.
Still continues...

  1. JTWC issued a final warning saying it crossed the coast but IMD issed warning no 10 saying it will cross the coast by night...


    Seems the Super cyclone expected by Dec 1 is not going to materliaze

  2. looks like NISHA has made landfall as mentioned by JWTC.The cyclonic pattern has weakened .. thats what it looks like from the latest satellite picture.The skies have also cleared a bit in chennai.though its quite windy

  4. It is 4:26 AM on 27th November here in Chennai and its pouring like anything here with very strong winds. Satellite pic shows intense clouds over the City and adjoining South West Bay.Boy the city is gonna be flooded like that of October 27 2005.
    Wow this is Nov 27th. What a coincidence !!

    JWTC reports cyclone still over water close to the TN coast. Heading nearer to Chennai.No wonder we are getting torrential downpours since late last night.

  6. At Last it crossed the coast close to the north of Karaikal between 0530 and 0630 hours IST and lay centred at 0730 hours IST over coastal Tamil Nadu & Puducherry close to the northwest of Karaikal

    Seems NCEP GFS model and BBC were spot on their Track


    Chennai Reservoir are getting huge inflows seems like 2005 another one day spell could make flood warning around these reservoir's

  7. The rains have eased out in Chennai for the past 1 Hour now. But there is still a huge cloud mass over chennai.Looking at the satellite pic, it looks as though there are two whirls, one near nagapattinam and the other one just south of chennai.
