flood water

The flood gates of Chembarambakkam situated at SW side of the lake was opened without considering the aftermath effect. The roaring flood waters rolled in Adayar canals  inundated SW Chennai as the canal was shrinked to 60 feet or so. Further the draining path in Adayar river near SW part of Chennai i.e along the Adayar canal in Varatharajapuram, Mannivakkam etc encountered slightly elevated contours as a result the flood water laterally entered in to Mannivakkam, Varatharajapuram area where the flood waters stood at 9 feet height.
