Fresh westerly system may chug in by Friday


While a prevailing western disturbance has already been churning up the weather over northwest India and extending its influence over other parts of the country, India Meteorological Department (IMD) sees a successor in the making across the border.

The fresh western disturbance is expected to affect northwest India from Friday onwards while the prevailing system is expected to affect the western Himalayan region and adjoining plains till such time.
An upper air cyclonic circulation induced by the prevailing system has also shifted bearing east to lie over Haryana and neighbourhood this (Tuesday) morning.

A weather-maker trough from this system extends southwards down to south Tamil Nadu across east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, interior Maharashtra and interior Karnataka.
A weather alert issued by the IMD said that isolated thunder squalls would occur over Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
The same forecast is valid for Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and West Bengal and Sikkim until Friday.

Satellite imagery early this morning showed the presence of convective (rain-bearing) clouds over parts of north Jammu and Kashmir, east Uttar Pradesh and southeast Arabian Sea.
Low medium clouds were seen over of the rest of the country except Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

A short-term outlook said that fairly widespread rain or snowfall would break out over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand until tomorrow (Wednesday).
Scattered rain or thundershowers are likely over Maharashtra while it would be isolated over central, east and northeast India, before scaling up over northeast India.
Scattered rain or thundershowers may unfold over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
Scattered rain or thundershowers has been forecast over Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands while it would be isolated over Karnataka, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep.
An extended forecast valid until Friday said that fairly widespread rain or thundershowers would break out over the Northeastern States.
Scattered rain or thundershowers would unfold over east and adjoining central India, Kerala and coastal Karnataka.

Meanwhile, fairly widespread light rain or snow has been reported from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh until evening yesterday (Monday).
Scattered rainfall was reported from Assam and Kerala while it was isolated over Madhya Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and south Tamil Nadu until Monday evening.
Maximum temperatures were below normal by 2 to 4 deg Celsius over the parts of plains of northwest India, south Chhattisgarh and interior Orissa.
They were above normal by 2 to 3 deg Celsius over parts of south Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh and Assam.
The highest maximum temperature of 42.0 deg Celsius was recorded at Khargone in West Madhya Pradesh.

From today, S. kerala and S. Tip of Tamilnadu will have constant feed of moisture from Arabian sea and daily Summer T.showers forecasted.
A heat wave will start over Central and E.central India from 17-Apr .. and a circulation will be over central India at that time.
