Ashokbhai (Rajkot) draws my attention to a very interesting, and significant observation of Tuesday, 15th. March, at Ahamdabad airport. He shows, that at the airport observatory site, which can be checked by here, he noticed that the highest reading on Tuesday was 43c at the airport.
And this was nowhere mentioned nor confirmed by IMD .IMD Met. office in the city shows 39.3c as the max. on their site. IMD declared Barmer at 41.3c as the highest yesterday.
Very interesting, and Noteworthy observation ! We must have missed out a few unusual highs this way (hope not). Will have to check all airport readings personally for more accurate and missed out information henceforth !

Heat wave conditions may develop over Gujarat, west Rajasthan

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated the possibility of a flare-up in mercury conditions over the western parts of the country later this week.

It further warned that heat wave conditions may develop over isolated pockets of west Rajasthan and Gujarat, which have for sometime now been made to take on an invading area of high pressure (ridge) from across the border in West Asia.

This would mean that a fresh western disturbance making its way into the northwest after a hiatus may not be able to make an impression to the building heat towards south-southwest of its expected track.

But maximum temperatures during the day on Monday were below normal by 4 to 6 deg Celsius over parts of 

northwest and west India and by 2 to 3 deg Celsius over parts of central India, the IMD update said.

The highest maximum of 40.5 deg Celsius was recorded at Barmer in Rajasthan.

Otherwise, the day saw widespread rainfall being reported from Andaman and Nicobar Islands as clouds kicked up by an erstwhile easterly wave and a persisting upper air cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal liquidated themselves.

The rain was isolated over Tripura, as a trough in the lower levels of the atmosphere hung over Gangetic West Bengal to link north Andhra Pradesh through Orissa.

Satellite pictures early on Tuesday morning showed the presence of convective clouds over parts of south Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.

IMD forecast valid until Friday suggested that widespread rain or thundershowers would continue to occur over Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Isolated rain or thundershowers has been predicted for the Northeastern States, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep until Wednesday.

Fairly widespread rain or snow would occur over Jammu and Kashmir and scattered over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Thursday and increase thereafter.

Extended forecast until Sunday said that fairly widespread rain or thundershowers would occur over Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Northeastern States while being scattered over extreme south peninsular India.

Fairly widespread rain or snowfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Tourism Weather :: Kerala in April - 2011

The climate in Kerala during April will be sunny. [ April is early Summer] The maximum temperature will be hovering around 35 Deg Celsius [+ or - 3 deg] & minimum will be around 26 Deg Celsius. Rainfall will be around 50.0 mm to 80.0 mm and there will be relatively more sun shine during April. However after noon thunder showers lasting for 30 min to 100 min is occasionally possible.

But this year temperature may be bit higher and more frequent thunder showers may be expected.

1. Weather in April is so condusive and recommended for travel in Kerala.
2. It may not be continuously raining for 9 days at a stretch.  But evening thunder showers due to convective activity may develop and thunder clouds may give rainfall for 30 minutes to one hours. This may happen for one or two days.  But will NOT be not continuous.
3. There will be more sun shine and temperature will be HOT & HUMID. So some time you may feel sultry even in beach.

When the sun is over head i.e from Local Noon to 1500 hrs stay in the beach under the scorching sun will not be a pleasant one.  However if sea breezes catches up you can enjoy stay at beach.
