Super Heavy rains forecasted for Kanyakumari district

Super Heavy rains are forecasted in Kanyakumari dt for next four days by ( http://can.tnau.ac.in/ )

In four days the prediction is mind blowing
  • 135 cm predicted for THIRUVATTAR
    64 cm for Melpuram my home town - watch out for kuzhithurai in imd table which is 6 km away
  • Pechiparai in kk district has already got 6 cm from 8.30 am to 8.30 pm today

Anyways be prepared those residing there

  2. Water released from Pechipparai dam

    Around 250 cusecs of water was released from the Pechiparai dam and based on the demand the quantum of water would be increased in future. The inflow of water into the dam was 275 cusecs. The release of water from the dam was closed on March 8 in the Kumbapoov season. An area of 79,000 acres would be benefited with the water release.

    However, heavy rain lashed different parts of the district for the second day on Wednesday following the onset of Southwest Monsoon in Kerala three days ago.

    The maximum rainfall of 54 mm was recorded at Chittar I followed by 26 mm in Chittar II, 12.4 mm in Mullankinavilai, 12 mm in Pechipparai, 10.6 mm in Colachel, 6.2 mm in Nagercoil, 5.2 mm in Perunchani, 4.2 mm in Boothapandi, 3 mm in Surulode and 2.2 mm in Kannimar. The water level in all the four dams including Pechipparai, Perunchani, Chittar I and Chittar II was also slowly increasing following heavy rain.

    The water to Thovalai and Ananathanar channel would be released after the completion of renovation works.

    The water level in Pechipparai dam stood at 43.03 feet, 51.75 feet in Perunchani, 9.25 feet in Chittar I, 9.35 feet in Chittar II and 18.40 feet in Poigai dam.
