IMD-GFS and NOGAPS model predicts some rainfall for Central & North TN(including Chennai) on Jan 5th. I remember in the Year 2008, Chennai received more than 1OMM of rainfall in all the months. Tamilnadu ended this year with 33% Excess of SWM and 42% Excess of NEM. This time the rainfall was well distributed over the period. TN did not have a prolonged dry period except for the delay in onset of NEM. I read in an article that, a Cyclone is expected to affect TN around April-May (Like Laila) this year. And like 2010, 2011 will also see a excess SWM for TN and whole Southern Peninsula, while the Northeast India will have yet another Monsoon failure this time too.
