How is this possible? Cyclones in northen hemisphere always move in northern direction - so as usual TN and Andhra will miss the much required rain/water. Will North East arrive or disappear due to cyclone?
How is this possible? Cyclones in northen hemisphere always move in northern direction - so as usual TN and Andhra will miss the much required rain/water. Will North East monsoon arrive or disappear due to cyclone? Seems South West monsoon is refusing to leave Mumbai - every day heavy rain.
Dear SSET, In Northern Hemisphere cyclone movements will be North-North westerly apart from re curvatures But, there were instances where the system's movement was suddenly diverted or dragged by the 200 hPa level winds. [or upper level divergence wind] As for as GIRI was concerned,its center lied south of the ridge on 21102010 and "over enthusiastically" or 'with unwarranted alarm' track BACK was presumed. This lead to wrong forecast. I apologize the General Public and viewers for this drastically misleading act.
Today, Sunday the 24 October 2010: 0648 hrs IST:_ I sigh relieved on seeing clouds from the remnants of 'GIRI' tracking back and slashing East coast. As pointed out by my colleague at Bengaluru, light surface [SWLY] winds are backing with height to enable Cold Air Advection from North[or NELY] Therefore NEM onset is ahead.
