Tamilnadu Agricultural Weather Network

Tamilnadu Agricultural University is maintaining a web based weather net work which gives instantaneous [block level] meteorological data of 224 places through out Tamilnadu. These data can be accessed on line. These AWS data are hourly based and are more useful.
However the pressure data need to be calibrate. The pressure now it gives is wrong.

  1. The first confirmation of the formation of natural climatic phenomenon La Niña was given by Australia’s Met Dept a few days ago. Typically lasting 9-12 months, each episode has an effect of bringing about a sharp decline in global average temperature anomalies. How sharp the global temperature declines will depend among other things, on how deep the La Niña formation is.

Because of this potential, its development is closely tracked by several climate centres around the world using various monitoring indices. What the analysis is all pointing to is that a relatively very deep and more longer lasting La Niña is in the offing.

Can such an event bring about a climate reversal by ushering in a long-term global cooling phase? We argue that while La Niña per se as a short term climatic phenomenon has little significance in triggering any long-term climatic reversals; but in tandem with other climatic phenomena such as the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), sunspot activity etc, it holds very high significance as we now entered an era where La Niñas will be more frequent than El Niños in contrast to what was seen during the last 2-3 decades.

Global Cooling has arrived and would be in full display from this winter. This is not an opinion merely of large sections of climate sceptics but also those of some of the most prominent IPCC scientists like Mojib Latif, Prof Tsonis, William Gray and several others who have categorically predicted the next 20-30 years as a cooling phase.

We bring an overview of the evidences used to draw such a conclusion and for those who are interested in the climate change debate and want to go beyond rhetoric’s, this article may be useful to get an insight to some of the basic technicals of climatology.
