  1. Torrential rains lash Telangana region
    --------------------------------
The south-west monsoon turned “vigorous” over the State under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal, resulting in a cloudburst at several places on Friday. Rivulets, streams and tanks rose instantly and some of them overflowed affecting vehicular traffic.

Hyderabad was battered by a wee-hour downpour lasting nearly for an hour.

The impact of the cloudburst was such that Tandur in Ranga Reddy and Tiruvur in Krishna district recorded a heavy rainfall of 11 cm each in 24 hours up to 8.30 a.m. on Friday. Banswada, Vikarabad received 10 cm each, Asifabad, Mancherial 9 cm each, Khanapur, Madhira and Metpalli 8 cm each and Medak and Chevella 7 cm each.

Isolated heavy rains are likely to continue over the State for two more days, engulfing Telangana region in particular, due to the cyclonic circulation, India Meteorological Department said.
