  1. Madikeri according to IMD Madras site has a 50% deficit.

For that matter the ghat section in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat (southern part) have not had the heavy rains that they experience now (would be at its peak now). Places like Mahabaleshwar (mah), Sringeri, Agumbe, Bhagamandala, Gaganbhavda (Mah) , Kottigehara, Jayapura, Tirthahalli, Kammardi etc., - basically in Kodagu, Shimoga and Chikamagalur districts in Karnataka. Remember these towns because they dominate the rainfall figures in this time of the year.

I imagine these places are running around 50% deficits.

The flow in Tungabhadra, Kaveri and Krishna would also be accordingly.

Wayanad I suppose has not fared that badly. It clocked good figures a couple of weeks back.

  2. Iyers comments are very true. For 2010.
    1. Coastal Karanataka (Mangalore,Augume) have never recevied vigourous rains. In fact Mumbai has received more rains compared to Augumbe/Mangalore.
    2. Malnad region,Chickmaglur,Medikari have received only 300-400mm of rain till now, which should have been atleast 1000mm. Hence 50% deficiency compared to Mumbai 50% excess.
    3. Coastal karnataka, origin for cauvery, lifeline for 3 southern states has never overflowed. Hence Bangalore/Mysore which are dependent on cauvery will face extreme drought and as such no rain in south interior karnataka. Bangalore/Mysore received only 100mm rain till july 10 2010. Powercut for 5 hours a day!
