SUB–HIMALAYAN WEST BENGAL & SIKKIM: Heavy rains lashed the area with Buxa (the above 500 cm member) getting 33cm. From June it has got 260 cm the second highest in India behind Cherrapunji's 485 cm. In July alone it has got 141 cm which is more than Cherrapunji's 139 cm.

Huge trees uprooted, affecting power supply in many places
Nagercoil: Normal life in different parts of Kanyakumari district was thrown out of gear on Sunday following a heavy rain.
Public Works Department had already stopped water release for irrigation from Pechipparai, Perunchani and Chittar I dams after all these reservoirs witnessed a heavy inflow of water.
Many huge trees were uprooted in the district, affecting power supply in many places.
However, tourists visiting Thirparappu were happy on seeing good flow of water due to heavy rain in the catchment areas.
Since sea was rough off Colachel, Kodimunai, Vaniyakudi, Simon Colony, Chinna Muttom, Vaavuthurai, Keezhmanakudi, Melamanakudi and Sangumugham beach, fishermen have moved their boats and vallams to safer places. All the water bodies in the district are fast filling up.
While the inflow of water to Pechipparai dam was 1,089 cusecs, it was 810 cusecs into Perunchani, 161 cusecs into Chittar I and 258 cusecs into Chittar II.
The maximum rainfall of 79.5 mm was recorded at Surulode followed by 71 mm in Adayamadai, 67 mm in Chittar I, 60.8 mm in Puthen dam, 60.4 mm in Perunchani, 53.4 mm in Pechipparai, 49 mm in Chittar II, 48.4 mm in Mullankinavilai, 45.7 mm in Boothapandi, 42.4 mm in Kuruthencode, 41.6 mm in Kottaram, 41 mm in Kozhipporvilai, 37 mm in Nagercoil and 32.3 mm in Kannimar.
The water level in Pechipparai dam stood at 21.50 feet, 44.80 feet in Perunchani, 7.87 feet in Chittar I and 7.97 feet in Chittar II.
