MAIN WEATHER OBSERVATIONS(Recorded during past 24 hours)
· Yesterday’s temperatures were upto 19°C below normal over northwest India and upto 7°C below normal over northeastern states due to overcast sky and widespread rainfall.
· The highest maximum temperature of 45.8°C was recorded at Sambalpur (Orissa).
· Widespread rainfall has occurred over Himachal Pradesh, northeastern states, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, fairly widespread over Sub-Himalayan west Bengal & Sikkim, coastal Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh and scattered over Haryana , Gengetic west Bengal south interior Karnataka, Telengana and Konkan & Goa. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm (≥ 4 cm) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Cherapunji-37, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Sundernagar, Shimla, Panambur and Kozikode-7 each, Shirali and Ambala-9 each, Bhuntar, Patiala and Imphal-6 each, Coochbehar, Nancowry, Kannur, Silchar, Goalpara, Una, Diamondharbour, Rangia and Mandi-5 each and Kottayam, Tezpur, Halflong and Canning-4 each.

· The western disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir and neighbourhood persists as an upper air system.
· Under influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation a low pressure area has formed over Westcentral Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood.

· Intensification of monsoon flow over Arabian Sea, south peninsular India and Bay of Bengal during next 3-4 days.

· KALPANA–1 Cloud imagery at 0830 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of west Himalayan region, northeastern states, south peninsular India, east Arabian Sea, Northeast & Southwest Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of plains of northwest India and east, central & west India.

· Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over Kerala, Lakshadweep, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and northeastern states.
· Scattered rain/thundershowers would occur over Rayalaseema and Telengana during next 24 hours and increase thereafter.
· Scattered rain/thundershowers would occur over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand. After 24 hours rainfall activity will decrease over Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand.
