SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 0830 HRS IST:-

Northeast monsoon has been vigorous over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and active over Coastal Tamil Nadu

Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Tamil Nadu and at many places over Interior Tamil Nadu, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka and Telangana. Mainly dry weather prevailed over North Interior Karnataka.

Kavali recorded an extremely heavy rainfall of 25 centimetres.

The following stations recorded very heavy-to-heavy rainfall in centimetres.

Red Hills (Thiruvallur dt) 15, Chembarambakkam (Thiruvallur dt) 14, Ponneri (Thiruvallur dt) and Gudur (Nellore dt) 13 each, Sullurpet (Nellore dt) 12, Chennai Airport, Maduranthagam (Kanchipuram dt), Cholavaram (Thiruvallur dt), Cuddalore and Tada (Nellore dt) 11 each, Anna University (Chennai dt), Manimutharu and Papanasam (both Thirunelveli dt) 10 each, Chennai, Cheyyur and Sriperumpudur (both Kanchipuram dt), Poonamalle and Korattur (both Thiruvallur dt), Thiruvallur, Kollidam and Sirkali (both Nagapattinam dt), Ambasamuthiram (Thirunelveli dt), Rapur and Vinjamur (both Nellore dt), Kandukur (Prakasam dt), Nellore and Srikalahasti (Chittoor dt) 9 each, Kanchipuram, Tambaram, Chidambaram (Cuddalore dt) and Visakhapatnam 8 each and DGP Office (Chennai dt), Poondi and Thamaraipakkam (both Thiruvallur dt), Puducherry Airport , Atmakur and Venkatagiri Town (both Nellore dt) 7 each.

Tirupathi Airport recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 18 degree Celsius in the plains of region.

WEATHER FORECAST VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 9TH NOVEMBER 2009:

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over places over Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and at many places over Interior Tamil Nadu, South Kerala, Lakshadweep and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over Rayalaseema, North Kerala, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and South Interior Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Coastal Karnataka and Telangana. Mainly dry weather will prevail over North interior Karnataka.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING:

Heavy rain at a few places with very heavy to extremely very heavy falls(≥ 25 centimetres) at isolated places is likely to occur over Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and South coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over Interior Tamil Nadu, South Kerala and Lakshadweep area during the same period.

FARMERS WEATHER BULLETIN FOR TAMIL NADU AND PUDUCHERRY FORECAST VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 9TH NOVEMBER 2009:

Moderate to rather heavy rain is likely at most places over Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts of coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and at many places over remaining districts of Tamil Nadu.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING:

Heavy rain at a few places with very heavy to extremely very heavy falls(≥ 25 centimetres) at isolated places is likely to occur over Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over Interior Tamil Nadu during the same period.
