தமிழகத்தின் வட கிழக்கு பருவக்காற்று கால மழை கடந்த 2015 அக்டோபர், நவம்பர், டிசம்பர் மாதங்களில் காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் தான் மிக அதிகமாக பொழிந்தது. காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்டம் அதிக மழை பெரும் என்பதும் வரலாறு அறிந்த உண்மை. அதனால் தான் அம்மாவட்டதிற்கு  "ஏரிகள் மாவட்டம் " என்ற பெயரும்  உண்டு. கடந்த 2015 வ கி மழையில் செங்கல்பட்டு நகர் தான் அதிக அளவாக 226 செ.மீ மழை பெற்றது. எனினும் செங்கல்பட்டிலோ அல்லது அம்மாவட்டத்தின் பிற பகுதிகளிலோ (ஆலந்தூர், தாம்பரம் , திருப்பெரும்புதூர் வட்டம்  தவிர ) பெரிதான வெள்ளப்பாதிப்பு இல்லை.  இதற்கு முழுக்காரணம் "பாலாறு" ஆகும். ஏரிகளில் தேங்கிய மிகை நீர் பாலாற்றில் வடிந்தது.

"பாலாறு" அகன்ற பெரிய ஆறு. அடையாரைப்போல் குறுகிய அகலமும், குறைந்த தொலைவும் ஓடக்கூடிய ஆற்றில்  "வெள்ளப்பெருக்கு"  என்பது ஒரு பொதுவான நிகழ்வு.

அடையாறு ஆதனூர் அருகே வடக்காக திரும்பி  செல்லும்  இடத்தில், அடையாற்றை திசை திருப்பி ஊரப்பாக்கம், காட்டாங்குளத்தூர் கூடுவான்சேரி , சிங்கப்பெருமாள்கோவில் , பரனூர் வழியாக "பாலாற்றில்" இணைத்து  விட வேண்டும். இந்த நதி நீர் இணைப்பு செய்தால் நிச்சயமாக அடையாறு வெள்ளப்பெருக்கு ஏற்படுவது கட்டுப்படுத்தப்படும்.
