For Mumbai,Sunday dawned bright, but frequency of rain has now increased. As estimated (on Wednesday), city should get the projected 40 mms. Further increase from Tuesday night thru wednesday, to 75 mms.

To day [18 Jul 2010] 00 Z TEMP indicated the following things.

At Thiruvananthapuram the height of 700 hPa is 3059 gpm and temperature is 7.2 Deg Celsius abd wind is from 315/28knots. Similarly at Mangalore the height is 3096 gpm and temp is 9.8 and wind is 295/27knots. At Mumbai it is 3034 gpm 10.2 and wind 170/10kts. At Karaikal it is at 3105 gpm and temp is 10.0 and wind is 285/23 kt and at Chennai it is at 3097 gpm and 10.2 and wind is 270/21kts,

From this it is inferred that within another two days SWM may be active along south peninsula and vigorous over North Karnataka and Konkan coast.

To support this cross equatorial wind flow pattern from CIMSS is viewed and it too supported the cause.
