Today it is West Bengal.
Tomorrow it could be Tamilnadu, Maharashtra; Gujarat, Pune or Bangalore. Our
fundamental rights to freedom of expression are under threat. This is not only
an Indian specific problem but a global trend on clamming down on social media.
But what can Mamata
Banerjee or any government do when lakhs of citizens defy them by twitting
Arrest Me Now! Remember, the individuals taking the lead to now take on Mamata
Banerjee were mostly the same who were on the vanguard of the movement
supporting her successful electoral campaign less than 11 months ago.
Convert democracy’s darkest
hour to its finest. Let it be a message to our political leaders, whether the
likes of Mamata, Jayalaithaa, Mayawati; Anna Hazare, Kapil Sibal or Narendra
Modi that any attempt to subvert democracy in this country through their
dictatorial tendencies will not be tolerated no matter how and mighty they are.
We have declared ourselves
as an anti-Mamata Banerjee, pro-democracy blog. We urge you to declare your
blogs too as one.
